Pennsylvania public staff now not must pay state revenue taxes on forgiven student loans beneath two main packages, Governor Tom Wolf’s administration introduced Friday.
Public-sector staff and nurses taking part within the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which supplies debt reduction to lecturers, social staff, navy members and different public staff, and the Pennsylvania Student Loan Relief for Nurses Program, which forgives a most of $7,500 in student loan debt for state-licensed nurses, will likely be affected.

Most other states and the federal government do not tax student loan forgiveness, but Pennsylvania lawmakers who advocated for the change said the state Department of Revenue deemed canceled students loans to be taxable income.
